As a Maryland native, Dr. Stanhope is happy to be practicing in his home state, at one of the premier oral surgery practices in the region. He comes highly recommended by the Director of the OMFS Residency Program at the University of Maryland, and our own Dr. Alexandra Forest, who was in residency with him. Dr. Stanhope brings extensive education, training and experience in oral surgery and medicine to the practice, including major, complex surgery.
After receiving his DDS at the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry, Dr. Stanhope completed his post-graduate, hospital-based residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. During his residency, he received his MD at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, and served as Chief Resident during his final year of the six-year program. In addition to his residency in general surgery and internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Stanhope completed numerous externships across the country, including the medical centers at New York University, Louisiana State University and the University of Florida.
While pursuing his dental and medical degrees, he served in several leadership positions and was the recipient of numerous academic awards and research grants. He also volunteered through Mission of Mercy to provide oral surgery care and cancer screenings for underserved people throughout Maryland.
Dr. Stanhope maintains memberships in various professional associations and societies, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Maryland State Dental Association.
When he is not caring for patients, he pursues his interest in physical fitness as a certified personal trainer and certified open water scuba diver.
